Bored Ape gold token sold for $1.5 million

Aug 19

The acquisition of a token from the NFT-collection of Bored Ape Yacht Club is actively discussed online. One of the golden monkeys went under the hammer for 777 ETH ($1.5 million). It will join the collection of an anonymous investor, hiding under the nickname Vis.eth.

What is  bored ape yacht club?

The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) is a collection of 10,000 humanoid monkeys, each of which is an NFT token. All Bored Ape (bored monkeys) have unique characteristics. Tokens are built using the ERC-721 standard of the Ethereum network. Therefore, they are sold for ETH. Literally, the name of the BAYC collection can be translated as "yacht club of the bored monkey". As part of the collection, the authors created art with primates in different stylizations.

The Deal

The expensive deal was made despite the general decline in trading volume on the NFT-market. Recently, the industry has seen a painful decline in the number of sales. However, Vis.eth is not particularly worried about this statistic, because over the past couple of months it has spent several million dollars to buy NFT. By the way, despite the high price of $1.5 million, the gold Bored Ape did not break the record. At the moment the most expensive token from this collection is Ape #8817. The token was sold last October for a whopping $3.4 million.
