India’s capital region recorded the highest death toll from Covid-19 on Thursday, at 131, according to the Delhi government.
That figure is higher than the daily high of 104 deaths reported on Friday. A total of 7,943 people have died from the virus in Delhi.
The district also reported 7,486 lawsuits in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 503,084 cases.
The Delhi government has imposed a ban on social gatherings. Currently, the number of people allowed at weddings is limited to 50.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s chief minister, said Tuesday that Covid-19 cases had risen in the city because people were not carrying out social media or putting up barriers in markets, warning that the government would be forced to close certain areas and consider them a focal point.
Country Number: Across India, there were 45 reported cases of epilepsy and another 585 deaths on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total number of cases in India is more than 8.9 million, of which 443,303 are considered active.
